Hello, I’m Brenda Awuor, the voice behind EcoVoicing
EcoVoicing was born from the realization that sustainability is, in many ways, a communications issue. That realization did not come all at once. It emerged gradually over five years of research, writing, and learning, much of it while I was still in university studying Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Banking) and working as a freelance writer.
Writing pushed me to research, and research began to change how I saw the world around me.
At one point, I learned that the sanitary pads I was using were made of nearly 90 percent plastic, and that they could take up to 800 years to degrade, long after I would be gone from the face of the earth. What unsettled me most was not just the number, but the fact that I had never known this before. Neither had my friends on campus. Neither had my family at home.
I began to ask myself a difficult question: Why are such everyday environmental realities so invisible to ordinary people?
As I continued researching for my writing, I kept encountering information that felt urgent yet largely unknown. I realized that many of the environmental challenges we face are tied not only to systems and policies, but also to a lack of accessible, practical public knowledge. The choices we make every day, what we buy, use, consume, and discard, carry environmental consequences we are rarely taught to see.
That was when it became clear to me that sustainability is not only an environmental challenge; it is also a communication challenge. I became convinced that if sustainable options are to be adopted at scale, they must be communicated clearly, honestly, and compellingly. Green brands, regenerative initiatives, and environmental solutions deserve visibility, not as niche ideas, but as viable, everyday choices.
EcoVoicing exists to bridge that gap. Through sustainable and green marketing, research-informed storytelling, and strategic communication, I aim to ensure that environmental solutions are understood, valued, and adopted by all, not just those already committed to sustainability.
